To Crop or Not
_____________Wordless Wednesday
The above is a photo of some of the Blue Mountain High School students coming from their afternoon “sit spots.” Each student has chosen a spot for a daily quiet sit, where they connect with the natural world, observe seasonal changes and develop relationships with local plants and animals, as part of their Eco-logical Literacy training. The students have access to 75 acres of forests, gardens and trails at the Floyd EcoVillage, where the school is located. Read more about the school and its philosophy HERE. And HERE is the story I wrote about the EcoVillage in 2011, which continues to get hits to this day.

The cropped one conveys more of what the post is about, I think.

Hi Colleen….love what you are doing….I am teaching in a Montessori School I started 18 years ago. It is so nice to see that some kids are still in tune with nature. I decided to retire this year but have been asked to train some student teachers. Love your articles! Stay well. 🙂

Both photos tell a story. One of energy and one of romance. Regarding your question we stayed at Canaan Valley State Park Lodge. We stayed in the old units which are soon to be torn down. The place is changing dramatically.

What a GREAT Place this is and how wonderful that these young people can get a real idea of how important Nature is, from the Ground Up, so to speak….It always amazes me the dedication and vision PLUS Passion that some people have to truly make this a better world….The way things are going, who knows what will happen.

That’s a great program for the kids or anyone. Better than classroom stuff.
