The Faces of Winterfest 2013

Rhonda Withington of the Mischievous Carrot shows off her bags, felted ornaments and other handmade and re-purposed gifts. Withington was one of more than 30 vendors at Jacksonville Center’s 19th Annual Winterfest Arts and Crafts Festival, featuring local handcrafted works, live music, kid’s activities and homemade cooking at the Jax Café.

Billy Joe Chambers performs a Johnny Cash tune. Chambers was one of 10 live acts that shared their talents at Winterfest, which took place (December 6 and 7th) Friday night and all day Saturday.

Winterfest was a family outing for the Grimes Deighan family. Pictured are Justin Grimes and Lore Deighan with their 3 month old daughter Ari. Brother Milo is peeking out from behind his father.
Tree Gigante of Wooly Bear shared a booth with members of the Floyd Market Collective. Gigante, who makes recycled wool clothing, was wearing a handmade skirt made of recycled ties.
A potter’s row in the Hayloft Gallery featured the work of Eric Bolling (in the forefront), Ron and Susan Sutterer from Frog Hollow Pottery and Sidra Kaluska. Kaluska’s jewelry and art was also displayed for sale.

The local Food Lion was out promoting a new meat packaging system that allows meat to stay fresh in the fridge for up to 21 days. Food Lion employees passed out samples of grilled steak to Winterfest goers.

Your Winter Fest reminds me of the Christmas bazaars in my town. Those are held on the first two weekends in November. This looks like lots of talented people are involved in it.

I like that robin’s egg blue pottery. And Mr. Lennon’s art, very nice.
The kids craft station sounds like fun too, good idea.
And 21 day meat — that would be grrreat!! Wish seafood could be stored that long too.
