The Audit
In April I calculate poetry
the way others do their taxes
as though the world was overdue
for a good accounting
Bursting to put into words
what the birds already know
with each emerging daffodil
I mark spring’s growing windfall
Its affluent bloom
and excess of green
are annual assets
we all get to claim

I like the idea of calculating poetry the way others do taxes! Shows its importance in your life. And the ‘windfall’ of spring is the best windfall of all! Smiles.

I’d much rather calculate poetry than do taxes. Sadly there will soon come a time when I have to fill in the dreaded form.

aww…how clever of you…painting words on spring canvas in the context of that dreaded devil.
……and so deftly 😀
