I think the second one looks like a Hostess Snowball! I literally stopped in my Honda CRV tracks while driving on a dirt back road to take pictures of them.

Oh dear, I am sitting sipping coffee and enjoying the first day back from a very busy week away and what do I see but your photo of a Japanese beetle and the reminder that I have to hurry outside and pick them off all the rose blossoms. I saw dozens last night. Thanks a lot for ending my morning!! ;-0
