Scientist at Work

bblC043522 My grandson Liam and I recently watched some of the movie Flubber on his dad’s Ipad.  He had seen it before and I hadn’t, so he was explaining all about the green bouncy stuff that can take on any form and that was invented by a scientist played by Robin Williams. bbl54 “When I’m grown up I want to be that guy,” Liam told me. bblgrerb He’s already shown signs of an interest in that field.  Since he was little (littler than now/ three and about to-be-four), he’s been interested in watercolors, not so much to paint pictures but to experiment mixing the colors together to see what  happens. bblepinkx Following his lead, I’ve been regularly setting him up with a lab of colored water, brushes, droppers and glass containers for pouring, and now bubbles. bbl364 We call it making potions! bbleblck I’ve been calling Liam “a little scientist” for a long time now.  Once he gets set up, he goes to work as seriously as any scientist. toesC04379 One time, after he watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids (a movie with another scientist in it) he made potions for shrinking things. bblblck371 Other times his inventions turn into food (this one he called “spicy”) because being a chef and making menu creations is another one of Liam’s interests. bubbla1 So I’ve moved on from photographing butterflies and flowers to zooming in on Liam’s bubbles. bbl4378 Bubbles and the worlds that exist within them.
