For What It’s Worth
I shook out a poem at breakfast
like loose change from a pocket
From leftover lines and settled crumbs
I gambled a metaphor and let the meter run
I coined a new phrase but spent it at lunch
Until morning’s excess was afternoon’s rut
By supper I was bankrupt

We have this game somewhere and I used to keep it on the fridge when kids were home. I should find it and let the grandchildren use it when they visit. Yes, it s somewhat like my prior post, in imagery.

I know someone who can relate to this. She often spends money on the darn-est things, and is left with nothing to buy what she actually needs. I think we all have succumbed to this object of desire at some point, knowing in the back of our minds that it wouldn’t be the greatest idea.
