Some People Come to Floyd to Watch the Hippies Dance
At least that’s what I imagine. They definitely come to sample Floyd’s vibrant music scene, and I don’t think they leave disappointed. Reptile DysFUNKshen, a psychedelic progressive rock band, is the newest Floyd home band playing quality original music, and they played last night at the Dogtown Roadhouse.
“The band jams a lot, and we get songs out of our jams. It’s a real co-creative experience and a lot of fun,” said keyboard/vocalist Bob Grubel in a story I wrote about his new CD Stay Above the Radar HERE. Last night the band played the title song (and others) from that CD. It was just one of the songs that brought the dancers, including me, spinning to the floor.
The band also features songs written by Ralph Brown – who plays sax, banjo, flute and sings – and Bob Dillard on lead guitar. Jeff Dowd on bass and Brad Miller on drums round out the sound. Below is a clip from one of my favorites of the night, a jam called “Think Floyd” by Bob Dillard.
