The 13 Bullseye
1. I’m not sure what it means, but I saw a sign on Facebook that said “Go Van Gogh.”
2. What’s more a bolt or a jolt?
3. Last night I told Joe that I like pasta so much that I might be a Pastafarian.
4. Why is there no 13 font on my computer? It goes 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and then skips to 14!
5. My 6 year-old grandson to me: Nana, you might remember this dance – it’s old – the Twist.
6. He knows that insects have six legs, the difference between fiction and non-fiction and the latest dance song craze. He taught me about Gangnam Style dancing and the words to the song What Did the Fox Say? Now THIS, the Cha Cha Smooth.
7. Second movies are like second teeth / Second children we know to be grand / To the lucid dream of life / they bring a second wind / Some of us will have second childhoods / Our car keys will be taken away / We’ll eat too much sugar / and walk around in one slipper – Read more of Second Hand Chances HERE.
8. Bryce was relieved that Chubby Checker was a nickname and that his parents didn’t name him that.
9. Writing short poems is a lot like trying to hit a nail on the head. One false move and the nail bends and won’t hold the weight of the frame.
10. Where some people see a target, I see a psychedelic pinwheel or spinning top.
11. You would think that alcohol and darts don’t mix, but there are dart boards in every pub in England. Believe it or not, I used to play, back in the early 80s when I lived in Texas. My first husband’s family is English. You might say I played darts for the beer. It was also a good way to get out with my sister-in-law once a week and socialize. I wasn’t very good, beer or not.
12. It takes energy to hold a sharp focus on the memory of a loved one who has died. It’s like holding an arm wrestling position; after a while you get tired and have to give in. Giving in can be a relief, but it also has its own compounding sadness. As you return to your everyday life and memories start to blur, so does the piercing clarity that comes from living on edge, so close to death. Your loved one left you, and now it feels like you are leaving them. –From a 2007 post titled Cupid’s Double Edged Arrow
13. The Post in Which I Explain to Six-year-old Bryce on Valentine’s Day What Cupid’s Arrow is HERE.

#2. Once did I receive a bolt of lightning to the keister. Once did I receive a jolt from a exposed 110 wire. The bolt a trillion times ‘more’, trust me.
And I sit in contemplative silence in #12, hung up somewhere between the tension of the bow and the point of the arrow.

Happy Birthday, Bryce! I like #9. I want to write more poetry. I’ve grown lax, though, and my words no longer flow.

7. The best ending yet!
“I’ve written this poem before ~ I’ve written this poem before ~ But I can’t remember the end.”
8. A fat piece on a board game.
9. I second that.
10. I see nothing at the link except for: Error 404 – Not Found
11. There are dart tournaments around here.

Number 8… Considering what some people name their kids, I’d be concerned, too. Number four… You can manually enter “13” — or any other number not shown — as a font size. I do it all the time at work. My T13

It’s funny about the number 13……Because so many people think it is ‘bad luck’ it’s left out in many places—particularly in Hotels. No 13th Floor……I think 13 is a lucky number……A play of mine opened on Friday the 13th, and it was a HUGE success……So, go know.
I cannot believe Bryce is 7 years old. I remember when he was born……! Time is really flying by so fast these days……
As always, my dear Colleen, a wonderful T13!!!!!
And oh yes….I LOVE that you are a Pastafarian……lol
