Smile, You’re on Thirteen Thursday
1. Vocation is the work we are called to do and vacation is the fun we are called to have.
2. The less said on something isn’t always the better because often we tend to fill in what we don’t know with the worst.
3. Sometimes adults say stupid things to kids: My 5-year old grandson Liam is a talker. He goes to a church preschool and when I pick him up on Fridays he likes to tell me Bible stories like they were King Arthur adventure stories. After telling me one about a Queen named Esther, I told him maybe he’d grow up to be a storyteller, or maybe a scientist or an archaeologist because he likes to make potions and dig for treasure. He looked at me like he was a little irritated and said, “I just want to be a good person.” “You already are,” I told him.
4. When I arrived at my mother’s house for my sister’s funeral earlier this month, I put my suitcase down in my father’s old bedroom where I’d be sleeping and then spontaneously started singing the Rolling Stones’ This Could Be the Last Time while at the same time I heard my great niece in the next bedroom start to sing Bob Marley’s Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.
5. John and Robert Kennedy’s older brother Joseph was born in Hull, Massachusetts, the peninsula beach town where I grew up. Read more HERE.
6. Sign seen on Facebook: Because only in America do people trample each other for sales a day after they give thanks for what they already have.
7. Thanksgiving Moon: Cornucopia moon / Filling with light / Feast on the stars of November
8. Shadows are bigger than life like truth is stranger than fiction.
9. I went looking for my poetic voice in my childhood home / and found it in the floral wallpaper of my bedroom / I found it on the stairs to the second floor / where I had a past life memory of living in castle / My dad is still standing on the stairs between floors / He’s got a book in his left hand and looks confused / Sometimes he steps down to sit in his easy chair / He looks for the TV remote that hasn’t been invented yet / Read the rest of Ghost Poem HERE.
10. My Facebook Friend Casssie just posted to the Floyd Group: What is your go to ear ache remedy? Please type loud.
11. “I don’t think people who want Trump for president have been brainwashed. I think they need their brains washed.” – My Dharmacratic poet friend Will
12. The war will not be over / until we all turn ourselves / into the fat lady singing / All You Need is Love / or Give Peace a Chance. – Excerpt from my blog friend Ron Lavette’s poem’s Let’s All Sing HERE. Ron also suggested we all sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider, “climbing back up the spout / prevailing after all that rain” to stop the war, instead of singing the deadly National Anthem.
13. I want THIS box of smile for Christmas.

Thanks for the mention CR!
First time I entered my mother’s room after she passed, I heard the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” (her favorite) in my head.
Cool list. Enjoy the holiday!

Trump just boggles my mind. Is anyone really serious about him? I hope not.
I find the older I get, the less willing I am to fight my way into a conversation long enough to offer someone a warning. But then later I will forget that I never got around to saying anything.

#2 is so beautiful and out of the mouths of babes!
Your TT gets better and better. I want to comment on all of them but have to go eat Turkey!

Trump is scary. I can’t believe anyone thinks he would make a good president. What does it say about us as a nation, that this is the best we have to offer for the greatest seat in the land?
Great TT. Happy T. Day and I hope you and your family enjoy.

Great list! The one where you and your niece are singing, that’s my favorite.
