Sunset is My Favorite Time of Day
Walking to the A Street pier in Hull at sunset, Joe and I could see inside the windows of people’s houses as we passed. The most obvious thing we noticed was that everyone had the Patriots game on TV. Like the Red Sox, the Patriots are in the DNA of almost everyone in Massachusetts.
We also noticed how the sunset reflects on the windows of some houses, making the rooms inside look like they’re on fire.
I named the sunset Kathy, after my sister who left this world Thursday morning. The crane in the bay reminded me of a stairway to heaven. Video clip HERE.
Then we walked to the ocean which was quieter and darker. The sound of the water rhythmically lapping on the shore is an ancient one but is so second nature to me. Having grown up on the Hull peninsula, I hardly notice it unless I decide to concentrate on it.
I recently re-posted THIS blog entry on Facebook about the last of my sister Kathy’s first round of chemo in 2012. The treatments were so much better than what I remembered from the past and they kept her alive for three years. Kathy was a hero to me in the way she lived her life and handled her illness that eventually took her life. I think of her now as I do my brothers Jim and Dan (who died in 2001), as brave pioneers in a new world showing the way and holding our place.
Here are just some of the people Kathy is holding a place for. ________Our World Tuesday

I wish I had known the fun, devotion, and comradeship of a large, supportive family; our family has always been very small, even in the extended arms on both sides.
Such beautiful shots of the sunset and that peaceful time of day. <3
