From Kirtan to Prince
I recently heard that some towns in Europe are rated by flowers rather than stars. Our friends Greg and Laura’s wedding was held at a five flower wedding venue. It just happened to be their home.
Joe introduced the two, devotees from different spiritual traditions, and he officiated their ceremony. He has lots of experience teaching mindfulness, doing speaking engagements and facilitating events, but this was his first time marrying someone.
The sacred kirtan singing and chanting that the bride-to-be shared at the rehearsal dinner on the evening before the wedding was a heartful experience that brought feelings of peace and well being.
“Should I go by chaplain, pastor, minister or reverend?” Joe asked while filling out his wedding officiate application. We decided on “reverend” because of its association with the word “reverence.”
There was glamour and drama (as in dramatic effect), reverence, good humor and joy expressed. The ceremony involved roses, the lighting of candles, an honoring of departed loved ones and exchanging vows and rings. I got goose bumps more than once.
The wine from Italy (where Greg’s family originated) was flowing and the selfies were snapping.
The feasting was so fabulous that it resulted in my new motto. Cake: just more calories to use for dancing.
I knew the DJ would be playing lots ‘80s music at the after wedding dance party.
Prince was my request and dancing to When Doves Cry topped off the party for me.
Hey, we clean up pretty good.
Congratulations and happy honeymooning to Greg and Laura!
Salute!

That was one great celebration! How proud you must be that Joe was asked to officiate. You both look so dressy.

Beautiful wedding. Her dress is gorgeous! And that cake – yum! Glad you got to dance to an awesome Prince song! He definitely produced some great music in his lifetime. Do you know where the happy couple went on their honeymoon?
