Perseid
Mining for diamonds
to fall in our laps
pockets of light
burning holes
The planet spins
a starry web
in a dark quarry of sky
where as above so below
has us all striking gold
as we pan with our eyes
for the mother lode

Oh I did look for those diamonds the other night… but not a single one on the sky… love how you describe it though

At the moment, I’m in a place where the sky diamonds are numerous. Not something that happens in New York City… where urban pollution has blinded the bling.
“…as above so below”, indeed.

Beautiful language! You had me at the first line, and kept me with “a starry web in a dark quarry of sky”–oh to look up and see such wonder. Thanks for sharing!

Sadly, I missed the Perseid shower but luckily I was able to see it clearly in your poem. Beautiful!

So beautiful..the glory in words that helps us visualize a moment in time.

I am in love with those diamonds, the REAL “girl’s best friend,” that night sky. This is bliss. Amy

Sky as a quarry, that’s interesting!
