Fab Four Brings All Ages Together
-The following first appeared in The Floyd Press on September 15. 2016.
A field of Beatles fans sang along to all their favorites at Abbey Road Live’s concert at Chantilly Farm Saturday evening, September 10.
From Athens, Georgia, the band was introduced as “one of the world’s premier Beatles cover bands.”
The outdoor concert was part of a weekend-long Volkswagen bus campout at the farm, presented by David Wood and the Full Moon Bus Club. The “fab four,” in this case, was Tim Conley on guitar and vocals, Dave Domizi on bass and vocals, Andrew Hammer on drums and Michael Wegner on guitar, keyboard and vocals.
Some of the songs featured extended jams that highlighted the musician’s talents.
“You guys got a good thing going here. You know that right?” said Wegner during one of the band’s two sets. “We appreciate you giving us a warm welcome. This is our first time in Floyd.”
Throughout the evening there was an abundance of smiles and a cross-generational dance party on the grass in front of the stage. Parents, grandparents, and some teens and children sang along to everything from I Want to Hold Your Hand to Here Comes the Sun. At one point, the children in the audience were invited up on stage to help the band sing “Yellow Submarine.”
