Keeping Up with Thirteen Thursday
1. What to remember when waking: I try not to put demands on the day or dictate my thoughts. I don’t want the first thing I remember in the morning to be the last thing I worried about the night before.
2. In 2007 I posted THIS video in a 13 Thursday list with the comment ‘this is my kind of having a ball,’ but now when I look at it all I can think is ‘who’s going to clean all that up.’
3. My energy is like a ball I’m trying to keep up. If it falls, it stays down for a while.
4. The day after the 2nd debate between Trump and Clinton, the iconic Trump Taj Mahal on the Atlantic City boardwalk closed down “after hemorrhaging losses for years,” according to its current owner, billionaire investor Carl Icahn (whom Trump has said would be his Secretary of the Treasury). “The shutdown leaves 3,000 employees without jobs. Most had been earning under $12 an hour. In 2009 and 2014 Trump Entertainment Resorts underwent rounds of bankruptcy that stripped workers of a third of the pay and benefits then owed them. It’s all a metaphor for Trump: Hype and riches for himself, losses for everyone else. What do you think?” asks Robert Reich
5. There’s a GoFundMe page to get more damning Trump tapes released, a Trump Over Re-Action figure with deep pockets and his middle finger up and the maker of Tic Tac mints (mentioned in the video clip of Trump bragging about assaulting women) has publically condemned the Republican presidential nominee.
6. Some 3,000 therapists have signed a self-described manifesto declaring Trump’s proclivity for scapegoating, intolerance and blatant sexism a “threat to the well-being of the people we care for,“ reports Gail Sheely in Politico Magazine: “Trump’s campaign is legitimizing, even celebrating, a set of personal behaviors that psychotherapists work to reverse every day in their offices: “The tendency to blame ‘others’ in our lives for our personal fears and insecurities, and then battle these ‘others,’ instead of taking the healthier, more difficult path, of self-awareness and self-responsibility. Trump also “normalizes a kind of hyper-masculinity that is antithetical to the healthy relationships that psychotherapy helps people achieve.” Not to mention that his comments in the recently released tape are consistent with the behavior of a “sexual predator.”
7. Science Finally Confirms That People Absorb Energy from Others: A biological research team has confirmed for the first time that a plant, the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, not only engages in photosynthesis, but also has an alternative source of energy: it can draw it from other plants. “When energy studies become more advanced in the coming years, we will eventually see this translated to human beings as well,” stated one of the researchers.
8. I think in Trump’s comb-over is a metaphor.
9. “While the media as busy reporting on Kim Kardashian, bees were put on the endangered species list for the first time ever.” – Sign seen on Facebook
10. Soon they will fade and crumble to dust / Some are skeletons already / Some have been eaten like the red wool hat / that I left in my pantry all summer / Others I suspect have leapt to their death / the way people jump off the Brooklyn Bridge / They land like broken-hearted sunsets / that absent-minded people later walk on … – From a poem I wrote in the late ‘90s called Eulogy for Fallen Leaves, posted HERE.
11. An “introvert” hangover is a pretty terrible thing to experience. It starts with an actual physical reaction to overstimulation. Your ears might ring, your eyes start to blur, and you feel like you’re going to hyperventilate. Maybe your palms sweat. And then your mind feels like it kind of shuts down, building barriers around itself as if you had been driving on a wide open road, and now you’re suddenly driving in a narrow tunnel. All you want is to be at home, alone, where it’s quiet. – From Introvert Hangovers Can Be Really Tough HERE.
12. Drudge and trudge have more in common than that they rhyme. I thought of that yesterday when I was walking up a hill.
13. You can’t build a better mousetrap or a balloon.

He has always reminded me of the Howdy Doody character, Mr. Bluster. A lot of talk about not much, but it sounds good. And I think the Warner Brothers cartoon character, Foghorn Leghorn, sums him up as succinctly as anything. Only Foghorn (are you listenin’ to me, son) is funnier.
It has been a very strange trip. I hope we can survive it.
Im not surprised about the energy absorption thing, not at all. We are basically connected to other people, both emotionally and mentally, so it’s no surprise if we don’t draw energy from them…
Interesting T13. Lot to think about here. =)

Honesty is the best policy or so am told. To be truthful am all Trump’d out. If Trump is in a sentence I stop reading. It is painful even to type it now. Am crawling under a stone till after November. Drudge, trudge, be dam. Thankfully balloons exist; they’re perfect escape.

I found 4 and 6 interesting and I wish more people would take note of how many of Trump’s businesses end up failing.
I can identify with the introvert hangover. It’s not just too much time spent with family and friends that can cause it, but even a work environment that overexposes one to people.
BTW, did you see that Bob Dylan has won the Nobel Prize for Literature? I thought that would interest you.

Well,I did post an angry post about this election and while I do regret the words I am so glad I was not too scared to offend. This is one of the most dangerous elections ever and even if some of us get who we want I foresee some serious local terrorist acts ahead. This is an ugly time. My introvert hangover has never gotten that bad, but I am probably a wishy-washy introvert.

My day doesn’t work if I don’t make an effort to start the morning with gratitude and positive thoughts. So yes for #1. And I’ve already lost track of the numbering, but being tired right now is almost a given to thinking people don’t you think? The current political scene saps my energy – i just want to hibernate. Thanks for sharing — I wish i were able to express my thoughts well enough to make my blog something other than a Pollyanna happy place. Off to link to Gail Sheedy, an article I somehow missed.

I have already voted and keep trying to turn off the election noise. It is all the place and impossible to ignore without hiding under a rock.
I need a bigger rock.
