Grave Times
When the golden rule cashes in
love doesn’t turn the other cheek
It hangs its head in shame
Turns over in its grave
And no one rests in peace
waiting for the meek
And no one will be saved
when national pride
and the almighty dollar
are valued above
‘love thy neighbor’

I like what you did. These are touch times indeed.

This is the stark truth. When humans value the golden idol, money, more than humanity, we live in grave times indeed.

Agree with Suyash..the inconvenient truth of our times.. the whole system is broken..love thy neighbour is a good place to start over.

I like your string of platitudes that adds up to a great truth.

You incorporated some very wise sayings into your piece – it rings so true for our times.

I do love this, Colleen. And aptly timed to fit in with the holiday, which–perhaps unintentionally– glorifies war in my book.

Excellent sentiment!

True… and then some! It speaks of how so many people do things for the wrong reasons, often not even understanding (or caring for) what they are doing.
