Virginia is for Lovers and Floyd is for Dancers
We dance on dance floors and on grassy knolls.
On this occasion, it was Rootstock, a Floyd-style summertime bash that our friend Starroot hosts each year with live music, potluck food from our gardens and dips in the Milky Way pond.
It was Starroot’s birthday party, and her children and grandchildren came from Massachusetts and California to attend. Her brother came from Germany, her native country.
Her cake (delicious!) was made by Barb of Grateful Bread. It was a strawberry shortcake shaped like the white and red polka-dotted amanita mushroom that Starroot incorporates into so much in her visionary art.
Starroot is not only a visionary surrealist artist, she is also a musician whose original cosmic rock rock music we danced to. This band incarnation is called Forever Now.
Check out the 2012 story I wrote about Starroot for All About HER HERE. Her website is HERE.
Meanwhile, we’ll keep dancing!
