Pillow Talk
My bed is the hearth of my home
where teacups gather like neighbors
and scribbled notes are brushed aside
to make room for friends who come to call
for foot rubs that follow the news
Sometimes my blue comforter
is like a blanket on the beach
and I’m the tourist of my favorite dreams
I sail through a sleep of stormy wonders
and steer towards futures more sunny
I write a menu of poems
with breakfast in bed
while my aches are eased
and my weight is carried
I study for tests that I never take
I make and cancel plans

Oh, I wish that poems came as easily to me as ordering an entree from a menu!

Wow, my idea of the BEST kind of vacation! I love the blue quilt turning into a beach blanket, and being the tourist of your favourite dreams! Stellar!

Oh this was a wonderfully striking poem, with a blanket of cozy….I too have those school dreams where tests are never taken. I wonder what they mean.

…and you do all that from your “bed.” I liked what you did.

I love all the fantastic ways you can use your bed… sounds like insomnia is not part of your life.

Fun in bed! Ordering poems off the menu…now that’s original. I’m afraid I’d fill up at breakfast and ruin my appetite for the rest of the day!

Warm, but with the right touch of wry; fine stuff.

For those of us who go and go and can never find enough time or place to stop, this long hiatus in the bed — sung so joyously — seems like Avalon. Even though, one senses, its all forced pillow talk.

Human nature does not discriminate apparently. We obviously go through the same phase in our life!

Many of us work from our beds. I used to but in the name of better sleep my bedroom is not just for sleep (and sex.) I love blankets and have had my special one ever since I was a baby.
