Flower Girl
These photos were taken at the tail end of the flower season and the day before Emily was expecting a first frost.
Emily is my soon-to-be daughter-in-law who lives outside of Asheville with my son Josh. She is a past journalist for Asheville’s Citizens Times and is currently a farmer and the owner of Carolina Flowers (check it out HERE and on Facebook).
She sells her bounty of beauty at the local Farmers Markets and provides flowers for weddings.
During our overnight at her and Josh’s home, Joe and I got a beautiful bouquet for our room.
I like to say that homemade pies are the way to my heart. Flowers are another way.
At Josh’s mobile Brick Factory (making bricks for public art projects) in downtown Marshall, I stamped my brick with “It’s never too late to put flowers on the table.” It’s a line from THIS poem that is included in my book Packing a Suitcase for the Afterlife. It also made me think of Emily. / Our World Tuesday

Emily and Josh are an amazing couple — how wonderful is that for everyone concerned! Beautiful flowers — your poem is as perfect as they are.
