My “Kind” of Fun
This year I went to the traditional Kind at the Pine Halloween bash as the White Rabbit. Yes, that rabbit.
The yearly show is always a reunion of local Dead Heads who dance like the Wild Things and know all the words to every Grateful Dead song that the band plays.
There were Oompa Loompas and witches galore.
Hugh Hefner and his Playmate Bunny placed in the costume contest.
My friend Tina probably could have won the costume contest if she had entered. Her costume gave me the biggest laugh of the night, even though it took me a few moments to figure out what was going on.
Another friend Mara came as “the light of justice” but I had thought her head piece was just a psychedelic mandala.
The Kind drummer, Rick Godly, topped his 2014 costume (4th down HERE) by playing drums in a giant T-Rex costume. Look closely. He’s in there.
Better yet, watch Rick’s T-Rex in action in the clip above. It’s worth it!
The band played a Tom Petty song that touched my heart and sounded like an anthem to the musician that I loved but never got to see in concert.
The Mystic Witches of Floyd flash mobbed the crowded dance floor.
With the low lights and so much moving I couldn’t get a good still of the witches dancing but did take the one above after the dance, along with this video clip which I had to take from behind so that I could use the stage as back light.
By the end of the night, we were switching up costumes and asking who’s who?
And all this fun happened after two other parties and hanging out with Senator Kaine and candidate for Governor Ralph Northam during their “Barnstorm the Commonwealth” visit to Floyd. More coming soon on that… / Our World Tuesday
