Don’t Look Away
The news is like a burning building
that I crane my neck to see
Every couple of hours
I check how far it’s spread
But I also want to turn my head
I want to grab the matches
out of arsonists hands
and stomp the engulfed ground
we all stand on
I want our lives to be saved
by inherent goodness
I want the winds of change
to blow
the other
way

Wish we had the power to douse the fire. Nice images.

Me too, Colleen. Me too. May the winds of change blow in soon.

Yes Colleen, I truly resonate with this… topical in so many ways – both materially right now and more broadly as a metaphor too… Great!

Oh, me, too, Colleen. Those winds of change need to become a tornado big enough to blow the white house away. I feel the “engulfed ground we all stand on.”

I wish the same… but I fear the fuse is already lightened.

Gosh! Wouldn’t that be nice…

Indeed. May the winds of change blow the other way soon.

You have put into words what so many of us feel. Thank you.
