13: Don’t Lose Your Head
1. I sometimes shop at the Goodwill Thrift Shop in Hunting Hills, Roanoke. I just got my charge card statement for some clothes that I bought there, and it read: Goodwill Hunting.
2. Sufjan Stevens is the Enya of today.
3. HERE is his song Mystery of Love, nominated for an Academy Award.
4. The above photo is one that I took while covering Floyd’s First Annual Bridal Show this weekend. It was a hit!
5. Besides the wigs that caught my eye, there were also doves flying around the room, a DJ and a wedding gown fashion show. Look for a story and pictures in this week’s Floyd Press.
6. It’s hard to enjoy the debut appearance of crocus when they are more than a month early and make me think of displaced polar bears, melting icebergs and floods.
7. I like to wear wigs but only on Halloween.
8. Second childhood. The life cycle returns to the beginning. We start out with no teeth and many end up without any. Many start out with light colored or no hair that goes dark and then ends up light or bald again. Like children, elders often need help. They don’t go to school, get confused and lose things, like inhibitions.
9. Don’t wig out, have a cow, flip out, freak out, or hit the ceiling. Don’t blow a gasket, your mind, your top or your stack. Don’t go haywire, go nuts or bananas, go off your rocker, off the handle or the off the deep end.
10. THIS is real me.
11. And HERE’S what I wore when I was a bride.
12. Lived moments recalled / can’t live up to their originals / They’re like copies of copies of copies / with details that blur over time / With pages that slip out of order / So we stick to the stories we’ve memorized … Read Sum of the Parts in its entirely HERE.
13. “And to think they made Jimmy Carter sell his peanut farm.” – My friend Joel on Facebook.

#2- I wonder if he is related to “Car Stevens”?! I truly love #8 because it is so true – such a play on words – like you! #11 and I remember that day well! You and Joe were so sweet and happy! Love you and this TT

purple hair. So very cool. I tend toward magenta, myself, but I do have to live here, lol. there Could Be Problems.
And the wedding photos are just stunning. Of course. They glow.

# 8 scares me. My mother used to talk about how she had to tape a bow to the top of my baby bald head so people would know I was a ‘girl’… (we’re talking back in the dark ages here)…. I wonder if that will happen to me again or if the “light colored” hair is as far as it will all go. (Probably depends on how many more days I hang around.) Forgetting #9 whenever I read the news these days is probably not helping to add to my # of remaining days.

I also want purple hair. It’s time, yes?
Yes he did, Jimmy Carter.
But I remember it a little differently. He didn’t have to sell it, but put it into a blind trust. When he got it back his useless brother – or whoever- had let it go into receivership. I’m too political or maybe fair minded to forget. Yes, it’s a Sickness.
Please tell your friend will he’s not alone in remembering these little details of the scrutiny put upon the gentle by odious ones.

er.. your friend Joel…
I’m sure my life is getting shortened by dirty politics like from back in the 70 to the present.

That was the kind of wedding I wanted, what you had. My husband wanted the whole tuxedo and Champaign thing, and so did my mother, so I was overruled. You were a lovely bride.
