The Scenic Route
Sorrow is a beautiful country
where you meet your destiny
where your foundations of love
hold immense treasure
when you trust the lay of its land
Because its depth is as far as its width
and its jewel is disguised by darkness
You have to dig deep to mine its value
to bear and wear its shine

Sorrow is a beautiful country…..what a lovely opening line. We traverse its length and breadth, and learn many things. Beautifully written, Colleen.

Yes, you had me at your first words… “Sorrow is a beautiful country,” a place of magic. You will see as if the filter is removed, the windows on the bus have been cleaned.

“Because its depth is as far as its width
and its jewel is disguised by darkness”
I’ve been discovering the blesings of accompanying people on the saddest kind of journeys. This poem speaks my mind. Thank you.

Thanks.

So pretty, Colleen. I lived like that in an earlier life and quite frankly enjoyed it all, except for late nights I forgot my Sorrow. I explored and resided in several places for three years after my first wife dumped. I’d never have experienced so much, beautiful places, had I been married.

This is lovely – and I really like the power of the second stanza – it speaks to the wisdom in this – the learning – very rich!
Happy NaPoWriMo!
