Burning Down the Doghouse
I was really proud of myself for being able to dance and sing along with the lyrics during Morgan Wade & the Stepbrothers’s recent hometown show at Dogtown. Some of her songs from her new album, Puppets with my Heart, are like anthems to me now, like Songs I Won’t Remember.
It was the tail end of Ignite Floyd, a fundraising concert for the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department Station 1, that started outside at the Warren Lineberry Park and moved inside to the Dogtown Roadhouse stage when it started to rain. I only caught the inside Dogtown second to the last set, and I don’t know what song Morgan is singing on the video clip below, but I remember her saying that it was new, and that there was a bad word in it. “Sorry Grandma,” she said.
That’s Mike Schumann of the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department Station 1 on stage, thanking the sponsors of Ignite Floyd, thanking the audience for coming out and asking for a round of applause for the volunteer fire fighters.
Morgan and the band are playing at Floydfest this year. Check them out on Facebook and at their webpage. HERE is the story I wrote for the local paper about her CD release party in February.

Good tune. Thanks. Hadn’t heard about her before.
