May Day Firsts
It was the weekend of the first annual Mayfaire at The Floyd Center for the Arts, complete with Maypole Dancing.
I was briefly crowned, tried on a Queen of May Day garland, made by one of the Floyd Mystic Witches dancers. Look for a spread of photos coming in this week’s Floyd Press on the Old World artisan village faire, not so unlike our historic Floyd Barter Faire.
It was the first time ever that I went to a Cinco de Mayo celebration with one of my favorite bands playing, and I didn’t dance.
Three weeks post-surgery, I tried but could barely muster enough stamina to get through two dances before I, sadly, had to quit.
It was the first time in eight years that my cabin hasn’t been a 16 Hands Studio Tour destination. It’s been a great run but we’ve retired my Asheville potter son’s childhood home as one of the tour locations. Still a member, Josh showed at Silvie Granatelli’s studio further down the Parkway. Check out THIS category sidebar for a history of tours at my house and more.
It was fun to visit him there.
It was also the first time I played How Lucky Are You?, a board game made by my grandson Bryce. In the end, my luck turned out good. After being eaten by cannibals four times in the first game, I won the second game. / Our World Tuesday

Oh, I love the luck card! So wonderful that your grandson created a board game, and your son’s pottery is beautiful!
Thanks for sharing.

love the game.
And give it time, operations do take it out of one, and the older we gets, the longer it takes to get back in harness again.
The next dance, if not this one.
