The Poem Garden
Time to weed the poem
to plant a row of words
to turn the phrases
that bloom the colors
to follow the root
to the source of truth
for the sustenance
of the soul

I just closed my eyes… and imagined your poem as a movie. The wonder! Leaves would be made of letters, branches of lines, and individual trees would be stanzas… Love the look of it.

A lovely poem.

This is absolutely spectacular! ???

I do it not often enough… poems can have so many unnecessary words.

Every time I come here to read your beautiful words, my heart is filled with such emotion and my breath taken away by the fabulous work you produce….and today you have mixed my 2 passions…..gardening and poetry! This is truly a stellar piece that I cannot help but read again and again!!

How apt to use a gardening analogy. It’s perfect -especially as words take root in our minds. Very clever and perfectly executed poem!

What a great analogy. I need to weed my poems more carefully.

I really like the way you worked with words here. I like the idea of weeding the poem. Sometimes we do use too many words and the poem becomes ‘weedy’, and it is good to get rid of some of them.

to follow the root to the source of truth…isn’t that the truth.

Yes, writing poetry is much like tending the garden to produce magnificent flowering words to please all readers.

Poems and plants belong together – nicely done, Colleen!

Love this analogy – sometimes there is much pruning to be done before our words flower.
