13: The Hit List

1. Funny how a hit can be something hugely popular or a murder.

2. And a box can be a four-sided container or a hit.

3. Are poems like eggs? / Do I only have so many? / Am I born with all the poems / I’ll ever write inside me? / While new ideas swirl / like a million unborn secrets / Conceived but not delivered / they tease but don’t get written

4. When it comes to writing poetry, I have to keep reminding myself that the source is endless, because sometimes I just don’t know how to do it.  But a poem usually starts from that place of knowing nothing and then takes on its own character.

5. I’m fine with knowing nothing because I think it’s the impetus to learning something.

6. My writing is often poetic and tongue and cheek. More like dreams than reality. But dreams are real as long as they last, right?

7. Is THIS some kind of joke?

8. THIS private residence for sale is the church I grew up going to.

9. “No one you have been and no place you have gone ever leaves you. The new parts of you simply jump in the car and go along for the rest of the ride. The success of your journey and your destination all depend on who’s driving.” – Bruce Springsteen from Born to Run, a memoir.

10. Love at First Stripe HERE.

11. The Local Talent HERE.

12. I’m not orthodox at anything. I love what is life affirming but don’t always practice what I preach.  I feel ashamed by environmental degradation and threatened by national indoctrination.  Religious extremism scares me.  I love the Sufism of Rumi, the Teaism of Lu Yu, and Emily Dickinson’s sign of the cross: in the name of the Bee – And of the Butterfly— And of the Breeze. – More from this 2010 blog post, Pandora’s Box of Paradox HERE.

13. “If you don’t know who you are, anyone can name you.”  ― Michael Meade

#8 ~ Who would want a home that big, much less NEED one that huge? But it mesmerized me, and I kept going through the rooms “one more time.”

The grounds and the view were nice. I don’t think I could live where I went to church, had my first holy communion, confirmation, confession, midnight mass at Christmas and the rest. I think I’d feel haunted.

I do love the gas grill on the patio. It do clash a bit with the gothic architecture.

And the balenciaga shirts…no. Actually when I see stuff like this, I think, ‘this is a test to see how tied in to ‘fashion’ some people are.

My first thought was that a hit was a smoke of a joint. Yikes.
