They Wake the Neighborhood
The birds are like children
that wake me too early
and I’m a neglectful parent
who closes all the windows
Their playful songs call
but I don’t answer
They remind me of everything
I’ve left undone
I love them all
but not like this
It’s too early to chirp
sunny side up
on the bright side of morning

Love this one, even though I just listen and don’t get up.

Oh, yes, the birds DO rise all too early. (And then again, so do my dogs!)

Yes, predawn chirping birds are annoying. Rating about 5th on my scale of annoyance, behind my 3 felines desire for me to play with them, after I have taken my nighttime meds and almost asleep. With Trump topping this list.

My hummingbirds wake me up, usually because the feeders are empty and I have to get up and fill them. I have never had as many as this year. It is quite wonderful.

Our birds are not early risers but the mockingbirds are feisty. I’ve already been yelled at today by one of them. 🙂

Anyone or anything that sings before morning coffee is suspect in my book! I identify with your words.

Yes those birds rise so unbelievably early!? Beautiful poem ?

Sadly the birds in Australia don’t just sing they screech at each other to claim their territory on the trees so they are far worse than an alarm clock…but so effective.

Colleen, my wolf was a real wolf who lived with me for the fourteen happiest years of my life. He was Pup, the handsome guy on my sidebar, whom i still grieve greatly. He was a wonder.

We have nesting finches outside our window who delight in telling the world about their family starting at about 4:30am. I keep earplugs on my bedside table…

remind me of everything I’ve left undone… wow.. yes..some mornings can be like that….

I see you, too, have a family of blue jays stalking your window… and probably pecking at the glass.

I love birdsong, any time of day. For some reason, it’s already 6.30 and no birds are singing here. I think they’ve all gone to your house, to remind you of everything you’ve left undone!

Night owls and morning people: What would the world do without either one?
July 9th, 2018 10:11 am
No, I definitely don’t chirp sunny side up most mornings.

If I’m in a good mood, I love my bird alarm clock. If not …. yup.

Lovely analogy with the children waking you too early. Yes, birdsong can be a mixed blessing!
