Nightly News Prison Break
Like a maestro conducting
three networks at once
I flip discordant channels
looking for escape
Soundbites break skin
What isn’t said blares loudly
I watch the burning house
with people inside it
They show engulfed bodies
then move to feel-good fluff
while the warden tries to convince me
the firefighters are the enemy

How we lose patience when there is nothing to watch! Mind you we should be glad that we are discerning enough not to watch mindless trash!

Indeed sometime there is nothing at all on the networks. Mindless. And ah – the last stanza, with the firefighters the enemies. Sounds like a trumpian rally.

It’s hard to know what to believe anymore. Or so a particular person in Washington says. And when we don’t know what to believe, then what? then the firefighters become our enemies.

This is when the tv goes off and some good music goes on. Smiles.

I think this is all too true… we are tried to look the other way.

Biting, and all too true.

I know exactly what you mean .. sigh .. and sometimes we can’t figure out what and what not to believe… ?

Well I know darn well that the firefighters aren’t the enemy just as the press is not. This is a response to the Trump world and my nightly news ritual to see what latest disaster has taken place.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who watches more than one news channel at a time…this is a vivid statement of being unable to look away and unable to watch.

A cynical piece this is. So very true.

Beautifully summed up – even though the facts are not so beautiful.

TV off, music on and a good book or some knitting!
