The Paws Cause Humane Society Fundraiser
-The following first appeared in The Floyd Press on September 20, 2018.
Attendees for the Paws Cause Floyd County Humane Society (FCHS) fundraiser filed in to the EcoVillage Event Center Saturday evening.
The lobby was lined with lighted displays of silent auction items that guests bid on.
Attendees mingled in the lobby and purchased tickets for drinks. Humane Society president Darcy Luster is pictured far left.
FCHS volunteer Suzanne Piovano (left) said the society has about 70 members and about 20 are active members. Pivano runs craft booths and sells her handcrafted scarves to benefit the all-volunteer society. “Last year we did about 35 local events,” she said. They will be at the upcoming Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival.
The silent auction of donated items took place from six p.m. to 7:30. There was also a live auction scheduled.
The fundraiser theme of “A Night in Venice” included Italian inspired appetizers (like polenta topped with olive tapenade) followed by a dinner.
Volunteers served up a selection of Chateau Morrisette wines in the Conversation Café.
There was plenty of room for attendees to spread out. Beer and Cider were also served before dinner.
It was a well-attended event with time for socializing.
FCHS supporters John Winnicki and Mary Jane Huber brought some humor to the cause when they came dressed with furry paw accents.
The Celebration Hall turned dining hall was festively decorated. Musicians played as patrons took their seats. Learn more about the work of Floyd’s Humane Society HERE and on their Facebook page.
