Winning?
Like Kanye with MAGA hat and cape
Like an athlete on steroids
Like tiger-blooded Charlie Sheen
Is winning really everything?
Would Trump have won the presidency
without the help of Russians?
Is winning the record for telling lies
really winning?
Are you winning
at someone else’s expense?
Can you win them all?
Have you lost yourself?
Are you winning like Kavanaugh
with a cloud over your head
like climate change deniers
stealing our children’s future?
Is winning more important
than how you play the game?
Is it really winning
when bullies get their way?

I, for one, am tired of all this “winning.”

Like Magical Mystical Teacher, I am tired of this ‘winning’ as well. All this ‘winning’ is making the country lose; and I pray for a blue wave in November; but I really do not trust it will happen. This winning disheartens me. Your poem says it all. Thank you for this!!

I have always been mostly tired of a winning when it’s really just about loosing the least…
True victories shall be shared with your opponents… and if you’re cheating you will always end up a looser (sooner or later)

It is not the “winning” we were taught…but now it seems the “reality”…or so “they” say.

We are all losers, with this kind of winning. Now they are making thousands and thousands of people unable to vote. I cant believe they get away with it.

It’s really about globalism versus localism. The world is obviously not ready for globalism at this moment (although it is inevitable) based on the inability to successfully adapt of many cultures/people currently transitioning into first world countries. Some of these cultures have stagnated in perpetual iron age thinking and behavior and have a tendency to be inefficient when brought into a more progressive culture.
“Winning” in this context refers to the maintenance of enumerated civil rights while at the same time exploring the wisdom and appropriateness in certain declarations of unenumerated rights.

*cheering at my desk* I’ve never understood how winning can be the only standard or even the best.

Ooooh girl I wanna sing this poem at the top of my lungs ?? Bravo! ❤

All winning is at the expense of the ones who lost… yet, democracy is necessary and the people decide in the end.
October 14th, 2018 10:40 pm
Right on!
How is it too many are okay with the bullies?

I too am tired of the need of winning -I prefer just to take part.
But in the political scene, there must be a winner or loser for the sake of democracy.

Democracy? is a winner a winner when he has won an election with the help of a foreign government? When the win wasn’t fair or was bought? This is a poetry post not a political debate.

winning is such a [s]elective term … – no pun intended ….
but then, aren’t we taught, pushed and set to prove (often at all costs) from a very tender age – to “come out on top” … when ultimately, we should be more engaged in celebrating – all participation, efforts and abilities ….
and yes, I am deliberately staying away from anything politically natured in my comment – because I’m tired of these “false but truthful” (??!?) “tabulations” – these supposed “wins” when it’s nothing more than a divide and conquer mentality;
so yes, I am exhausted and worn thin, by “winning” and all the frickin’ meanness in the world. 🙁
but your poem speaks with a strong voice – and I appreciate it.

To heck with winning, how the entitlement thus derived is wrecking havoc to both natural and socio-cultural environment is despairing.
I really like how you put an emphasis on the questions — the question marks altogether create an outlook where answers aren’t meant to be, given the nature of this self-destruction.
Very well-penned.

You are asking the right questions.
October 16th, 2018 2:49 pm
You ask good questions. Thanks for sharing.

You’ve called them all out with this one write. Bravo to speak your truth 🙂
October 16th, 2018 10:05 pm
Yes. (I mean “yes” to the poetry, not necessarily “yes” to the questions) (But: “yes” to the questions, too; or some of them anyway.) (“No” to the rest of them.) (You know what I mean, right?)

I honestly believe that open-minded people can work together for win-win solutions, even if they start off from what they think are very different places. Now if we can just get those folks elected …

How sad that these questions need to be posed! But they do, and you articulate them well.

Winning is everything. That and money and when you have no moral compass, that is whats left.
We need more more more more of this kind of writing. Sometimes winners can be found to be losers.
Thank you.
