"A blog is to a writer what a canvas is to an artist." ~ Colleen Redman

13 Thursday is HERE

1. Last week my grandson Bryce made a puppet in a wheelchair for a school team project about bullying.

2. I pop up like a puppet every evening at 6:30 to watch the nightly news.

3. People Are Already Talking About It: that’s the new buzzword going around ever since we decided to bring back our Christmas Eve Neighborhood Kahlua and Cookie Party.

4. Alice’s Restaurant is the Thanksgiving equivalency of Dickens’s A Christmas Carol at Christmastime.

5. Have you seen Melania Trump’s room of blood red Christmas trees? Somebody photo-shopped Handmaid’s Tale hats on them. Look HERE.

6. “People who love themselves, don’t hurt other people. The more we hate ourselves, the more we want others to suffer.” – Dan Pearce

7. It was a sad day this weekend when Joe was cleaning out clutter in the cellar and I told him to give my ice skates away because I rarely come across a frozen pond these days, and even if I did, I have a bad knee and don’t think I’d risk falling.

8.  I have a husband who really does bring home the bacon, only in our case it’s venison: sausage, burger and tenderloin.

9. My poem of the week:  The Jekyll and Hyde of Sleep – From falling in and out / and drifting in between / comes morning’s / rude awakening / when I forget what I did / in my dreams

10. Best line seen by a Facebook friend on a long thread of comments last week: For a moment, I felt like Tom Sawyer at his own funeral.

11. Check out my son Josh’s showing at the 16 Hands Expanded Fall Studio Tour that was not at our cabin HERE.

12. THIS is the artist whose work I most want to see.

13. “We must be true inside, true to ourselves, before we can know a truth that is outside us.”- Thomas Merton
