Fall Flavor
Red roasted day
Breeze spreads like butter
Chimes celebrate
fall’s feast of color
Steeped in Indian
summer sun
shades of cinnamon
honey and pumpkin
Cardamom, cloves
nutmeg and ginger
turn up the flavor
of fall’s spicy simmer

Fall definitely has its own unique flavor – both objectively and subjectively. I love the autumn tastes of cinnamon, honey, and pumpkin. When I picture a ‘red roasted’ day I picture both the leaves of autumn and bright red apples. Nice poem!

“red roasted day” and I think of bell peppers, stuffed with a rice pilaf and vegies, greens, and all kinds of lush ripeness – and your lovely poem has made me hungry! or perhaps, teased out an early morning need for breakfast?
the scents and flavours of Fall certain rouse comfort cozy – and if you’re experiencing and Indian summer sun – then all the more wonder to just step into the day and savour it 🙂
a wonderful teasing taste of fall captured in your poem ~ hope the day is as lush as you’ve painted it 🙂

I love the shades of cinnamon, honey and pumpkin- those are exactly the colours of late fall.

All our branches are bare, here, now; only the green evergreens and the golden Tamarac stand at the ready, waiting to hold their snow.

I love how you made this spicy concoction of autumn… every spice I can sense coming from the autumn color.

The middle verse is my favorite – all those scents remind me of fall.

I love the names of those spices, and enjoyed the way you used them as colours too.

The start of the winter season is always one of memories, comfort and warmth by the fire… however not for us in Australia as we look forward to a warm to hot Christmas period followed by a few months of the same afterwards hiding indoors or getting burnt!
