13: Getting it Right
1. Who’da thunk? A little punk, funk, reggae, psychedelic, electric, authentic, Indie rock would have us dancing without stop for a two-hour set! See a Get Right Band at Dogtown video HERE.
2. Can you believe this sentence is correct? “All the faith he had had had had no effect on his life.”
3. Where’s Waldo at Dogtown? The below photo is the header for Dogtown Roadhouse, a music venue, bar and restaurant here in Floyd. It had been up for a couple of years before I finally noticed I’m in the shot.
4. You know it when you see it / You hear it when you listen / The meaning transcends the rhyme / like the content of a person / speaks louder than their looks / Like the living heart can hear / what the ears sometimes won’t / and the soul clearly knows / what the mind tends to doubt
5. The poem above originally had the word “trumps” in it, but I couldn’t bear to have that word in my poem, so I change it to “transcends.”
6. Last week, there was a murder in a neighboring county with a knife, committed by a woman whose last name was Cutter, which made me wonder if her name was a prediction or a premonition.
7. Apparently, they’ve found clay on Mars; my Asheville Potter son posted THIS on Facebook.
8. And THIS caterpillar turns into a venomous snake when it gets scared.
10. Like travel? Dreaming is another way to do it.
11. Writing poetry is a lot like dreaming. I can’t will a dream or a poem into being. They’re both created from the subconscious and are a shorthand of information with multiple meanings. They bypass the intellect with brutal honesty, even when they lie.
12. Hint for #3: left hand corner
13. Caught red-handed HERE.
