Virginia is for Lovers – one of the most successful marketing slogans in the country – is celebrating its 50 year anniversary this year.  50 years ago my sister Sherry and her boyfriend went camping at Virginia Beach and came home with a Virginia is for Lovers button.  I somehow talked her into giving it to me and had it pinned on my pocketbook for years. That was the start of my interest in Virginia, an omen. I didn’t know at the time that I would end up living here, for over 30 years now but that button was a hint. HERE is the longer story of how that button became a ticket to Floyd, Virginia.
