The Floyd Center for the Arts recently hosted a sneak peek of what tour-goers might find on the 9th Annual Floyd Artisan Trail, a self-guided tour of Floyd County businesses, studios, farms and artisanal attractions. Their Opening Reception and kick-off for the Trail, which ran the weekend of June 7-9, is titled SAMPLER and will be showing until August 10.
In the Hayloft Gallery an attendee checks out some stools from Artisan Trail’s Phoenix Hardwoods, where one-of-a-kind hand-milled hardwoods are handcrafted into furniture.
A Green Crystalline Platter stands out. The platter was crafted by Ron Stutterer of Frog Hollow Pottery, a stop on the Artisan Trail.
The Last Friday Night, a pen and ink painting by Ron Campbell of Maggie’s Gallery, captures the last Friday Night Jamboree Jam in the barbershop, which is set to be remodeled for the expansion of The Floyd Country Store.
In a separate exhibit, Howard Wenger’s masterful collection of oil paintings is showing in the Falcon Gallery.
Titled, Floyd Musings, Wenger (pictured) said the collection started in 2007 and includes some new works that the paint was barely dry on.
Floyd County High School Spring Semester Art Show, including pottery, paintings, sculpture and more, is showing in the Breezeway Gallery. / Our World Tuesday / My Corner of the World
