Everything I Know About Life I Learned from Sewing
-At five foot and one inch, I’ve hemmed many pants and skirts. Maybe if I was taller, I would have read more of the classics.
Sew a straight line
Let divergences be gradual
Unravel tangled threads
and clip loose ends
Don’t cut corners
Repair what matters
Don’t hold up hems
with safety pins
Take up worthy causes
Only wear what fits
Make custom alterations
Don’t follow outdated patterns
Keep the path through needles open
Don’t thread them in the dark
Don’t worry about the knots
They hold the seams together
They tie the worthy bonds
and mark the place to stop

Wonderful philosophy of life! I like the idea of not cutting corners. In this day and age this happens way too often.

This is absolutely gorgeous and has such depth in its philosophy and message! ❤ Especially love; “Don’t worry about the knots/They hold the seams together/They tie worthy bonds and mark the place to stop.” ??

It sounds like you found a way to sew the tapestry of life. I too like the idea of not cutting corners , don’t worry about the knots as sometimes they are needed.
A wonderful philosophy for life.

This is a poem that flips my vision…wish I’d been paying as close attention when I had the patience to sew!

Oh I do know a lot about this… I have to do all the hemming myself… and so much good advice you can get on surviving.

That was perfect!

I assume the classics were on a shelf too high to reach. You should read them now they are easier to read and reach now on the the laptop!

I love this! So clever and fun. Having myself sewed a seam here and there, I know the wisdom of your analogy.
