Streams That Find Their Way to the Ocean
I see you only with insight
in hindsight
in moonlight
that penetrates a dream
where the parts of you
that live in me
are cast in sand castle worlds
that wash away in morning
Love has amnesia
when it comes to storms
My love is a boat
that has saved me

Lovely poem!

Sometimes it seems we can only see what WAS when we look back or when we dream. I enjoyed the idea of love being a saving boat. A vivid picture.

Thank goodness for the saving boat, the rescue boat, the lifeboat of love!

When the boat is essentially sound, and when the journey is a good one, it’s OK to have a bit of amnesia about some of the splinters in the boat and some of the roughness in the waves.

“Love has amnesia when it comes to storms,” this is so powerful and apt! I find that even the best of couples fall apart when it comes to facing obstacles in love.

“My love is a boat that has saved me” – what a beautiful way to express the kindness inherent in love’s amnesia. This poem is truly a gift. 🙂

Oh this is lovely writing. A memory of what might have been, had that boat not floated you away.

I love that love is a boat the saved you. Sigh.

This is lovely … beautiful imagery cascading from a mesmeric 3 line burst of rhythmic lyricism … an awesome start to a wonderfully rendered piece of poetry.

No wonder men have such difficulty understanding women when they embark on a love voyage with a lifeboat attached!

I love the way the words fold over each other…giving deeper/richer meaning to this love.

Love has amnesia

A true ocean poem where the words lap and wash over themselves, like ocean waves. A lovely poem.

This is a wonderful write Colleen! Love the ending couplet,
“My love is a boat
that has saved me.”

Such a lyrical piece — it flows like a river with its lovely line breaks. I love the ending!

Colleen, I especially like the last two lines. I cannot name a love that has not come to my rescue. Some sank me later though. They slide down from the castle and won’t wash away.
From your profile, “‘Dear Abby, How can I get rid of freckles?'” I have a similar line, about ‘earlobes growing.’

Yes, love can forget a storm until the next front hits. Love the poem.

Such a lovely poem. I need to remember to have more amnesia sometimes 🙂
