Floydfest Sound Check @Small Town Summer

Family and friends gathered on the lawn at the Warren Lineberry Park for the 4th installment of Small Town Summer 2019, featuring free concerts and family activities.
Ellie Rowe, one of the volunteers working at the Plenty! food booth, showed off the evening’s menu of food donated by Mickey G’s Bistro in support of Plenty!’s neighbor-to-neighbor food growing and sharing programs.
Sponsored by the Town of Floyd, the Small Town Summer highlights non-profits and local organizations. At Thursday’s event the Chamber of Commerce sold tickets to the Floyd Rubber Duck Race competition on August 24, at One the Water.
Giant bubble making fun was provided by NRV Montessori School.
The Acid Cats played a jazzy set for the Floydfest Soundcheck.
Attendees smiled in the sunshine, appreciating the weather after downpour showers earlier in the day.
Lucy Woodward and Charlie Hunter with Keita Ogawa on drums played a bluesy set that got some attendees up and dancing.
A “Tiny Dancer” named Riley got everyone’s attention with her moves.
Cotton candy and ice-cream cones were the treats of the evening.
The next Small Town Summer free concert at the Lineberry Park is tonight, August 1, with The Quebe Sisters. The Incredibles 2 will be shown at dusk.

Your town sure knows how to party! Our small city has tried several times to put on free concerts in the park with few takers. It doesn’t help that a larger number of residents are commuters. I was also going to say a lack of community news outlets, but I think there are, just unused.
