Great Music @ YOGAJAM and It’s Only Friday!
It was one dance party after another, starting with (for me) Noah Proudfoot and the Botanicals, who when I first saw them in the Yoga Jam program, I thought they were going to lead an herb workshop. I took my shoes off to dance and they got down and dirty.
This is where I said to Joe, “If this is bluegrass, I like bluegrass now,” but now that I hear it and others back, I’m thinking more Lumineers/Old Crow Americana. Justin Trawick is a very entertaining and funny dude who knows how to get the crowd going.
Yoga Jam was getting it right with The Get Right Band from Asheville. What a light show! I loved this new wave cover, done in a completely unique way, but the band also does originals.
I gave the closing headliner, Satsang, a new music genre description: sweet rock/hip hop, emphasis on the word sweet. Think rock delivered with melody rap that flows sweet like honey.

I like the 1st band the best! I wish they played at The Cirque du Floyd – it would have been lots of dancing from me! Looks like a lot of great bands and no yoga at all.

I spend my first day there (Friday) in Jamland dancing and catching bands and Saturday in Blissland where the yoga, meditation and workshops happen. The two areas are separated by a small bridge and it all happens along a creek. I didn’t take any yoga classes myself but popped in and took some photos. Coming soon….The headline night shows and yoga after it comes out in the paper.
