For the First Time
I heard your words
pulled then sprung
like water from the ground
An undeniable stream
of consciousness
that can change everything
in an instant
You said, “I’m right here
I’m not going anywhere
I’ve been here for thirty years
in case you haven’t noticed”
I laughed out loud
like a baby cries when it’s born
and has no choice but to let its life
be held in someone else’s arms

I really loved this one. It’s hard to realize what we have, where we are.

Great work, CR. I esp liked the wellspring opening, the birth imagery finale, and everything in between.

I love how you captured the sweetness and vulnerability of the moment. I can help but root for the speaker and hope that the decision to trust leads to good things.

“I’m right here” there is strength in that to know you are not alone.

The decision is clearly the narrators and she must be confident that he is the one, not to just submit.
