When Scrabble and Scrambled Eggs are What’s for Breakfast
How lucky can I get? After years of not having a family member who likes to play Scrabble, my grandson Bryce (11) suddenly can play and wants to. His younger brother soon joined us, and we came up with a reasonable handicap for me, since I’ve been playing more than 40 years longer than them. Every time I score 15 points or more, I skip a turn.
Not only did I wake up to play a game of Scrabble, but Bryce made and served me breakfast! I learned that Liam (9) made his and Joe’s breakfast before that. It brought back all the memories of them as tiny boys when I taught them how to crack eggs, beat and scramble them while standing on a chair at the stove.
The boys are so capable now, and they learn so fast. In the 24-hours they stayed with us, they created stop animation gif cartoons on the computer, Liam and Joe got the cellar set up for a Christmas puppet show the boys are planning, Bryce learned to play some cords on the ukulele, and they both learned to play pool for the first time. And Liam made an animated birthday card for his Hopa Joe’s birthday next week!
We’ve come a long way, baby!

Haha … what a cute video and wouldn’t it be strange swallowing a scrabble letter. Scrabble is such a great game and the clever gif animation created by the boys is excellent, although it did make me go cross-eyed when staring at it too long.
