Solstice Moon Compilation
The light trickles back
through the skinny-waisted squeeze
of winter’s hourglass grip
From a luscious scoop of moon
at the milky way counter
the stars have spilled over
in an icy cold night
A silver blade
in a dark ice capade
cuts a luminescent figure
It rolls across the sky
growing in size
an icy packed shine
in a polar wave of winter
Through a flurry of stars
in a galaxy drift
it plows a far flung
path of orbit
Mary’s halo
Oh holy night
A wiseman’s moon
of guiding light
A bell in a sky temple
A poet’s muse
A frosty cold
tipped sugar bowl
dusting the ground
with icing
Shy moon blushes
Late bloomer shine
From behind bare branches
It gets braver as it climbs
Silver horn trumpet
plays an angel’s top note
Pied piper’s call
for the stars to come out
A sleigh of moon
filling with light
delivering the stars
all in one night
Perpetual flame
from ember to blaze
Unshaken by storm
A kindle for dawn
A glass ball ornament
with strung bulbs through sky
Punchbowl moon
for auld lang syne
Raised glass crystal
Dipped ladle of light
Illustrious toast
to the good night

This is wonderful. It reads like a holiday song in flashes. I shall take the 8th stanza with me, and smile every time I think of the “Shy moon blush[ing]” and getting braver as it soars.

Such gorgeous imagery! I especially love the bell in a sky temple and the poet’s muse…..and all those glimmering stars! Just beautiful.

I love the silver blade cutting the luminescent figure and the moon’s growing bravery. A great read for a cold winter night by the fire…perhaps under stockings hung with care. 🙂

Lovely language, beautiful imagery. I was surprised to learn it was a compilation, as it reads so seamlessly as a whole.
