Inheritance
Daddy left me a magnifying glass
to read life’s fine print
He watches birds from up on high
in apple blossom time
Mommy left me a bread knife
an everyday tool that never dulls
She kneels in her garden
in the sun without a hat
watching her seedlings grow up

What my mother left me is what I am today. I’ve worked hard, all these years to overcome most of what my father left yet maintain the (very few) good things.

They showered love and affections not just in life but even kept an eye on our well-being from afar!
