13: Pit Stop

1. Shelter or shutter?

2. The song ‘You can’t touch this’ has been going through my head.

3. I posted the above on Facebook and someone answered with “Don’t Stand So Close to Me.”

4. Wild or Mild?

5. Bono wrote a new song “Let Your Love Be Known,” a St Patrick’s Day gift to quarantined Italians singing to each other from balconies. Listen HERE.

6. And I wrote this: Our hands are not / concealed weapons / passing the cooties  / we feared as children / Let smiles be the contagion  / Be touched by love / Spread goodwill  and let it go viral

7. The word “us” is in “virus.”

8. And rival and viral are the same word with the letters moved around.

9. “This virus is imposing a level of involuntary discernment about the big things in life. It’s a level of habit-wrecking that you’d otherwise have to shell out large to attend a retreat centre to learn and employ. And you don’t have to go anywhere, do anything more than stay inside and look out the window, letting the wonder take care of the fret for a few minutes.” – Stephen Jenkins

10. Poems for Pandemic:  Volunteer Poets are on call to provide a brief respite from the anxiety around the COVID-19 pandemic. Request your free custom poem HERE.

11. Places Van Morrison Thinks He May Have Left His Keys:  Between the viaducts of your dream, ’Neath the cover of October skies, Way on down the diamond-studded highway where you wander, Behind the stadium, On that train from Dublin up to Sandy Row, Way across the country where the hillside mountains glide, Half a mile from the county fair, By the side of the tracks where the train goes by, Up on Cyprus Avenue, Down on Cyprus Avenue, All along the waterfall, In another time, In another place, Oh, the water -by Jack Lewis

12. Daffy or just happy? HERE.

13. This ain’t no party / This ain’t no disco / This ain’t no fooling around.

Re #7: Also– Without its “dem”, Pandemic is just Panic.

Thanks for all the lyrics, CR. Music is soooo reassuring, uplifting.

Now, if only we have enough sense to realize the lesson, here, about how it one planet, one small boat we’re all in together, and that if we can get through this we might think about a totally different, far more unified, planetary stance, eh?

    Imagine.

Hang in there. Hug the Joe.

A virile us being positive is a good thing. Thanks for the positive take, Colleen. No anxiety tonight for me.

  • 5 Hazel:

This virus has brought out the best and worst in people. I’ll have that county fair in my dreams tonight.

  • 6 Penelope Notes:

Not sure if we are even anywhere near the half way mark. This virus in the physical world is the equivalent of going viral in the virtual world.

  • 7 Lori:

My musical response to Number 2: Georgia Satellites – Keep your hands to yourself. Lol. First song that jumped into my head. And Number 7 & 8 are very telling. And I mentally sang every Van Morrison song in Number 11. And Sheryl Crow for Number 13 for that matter.
