I Did My Irish Duty
Joe and I celebrated St. Patrick’s Day early at the local pub Saturday night. “I heard that people named Colleen get free drinks,” I said to the bartender. “No, that’s Dogtown,” she joked back.
I drank a green beer and we wore green clothes, as did the band, the Leftover Biscuits, named for the band mates who were left over from an earlier band called the Flaky Biscuits. Based out of Roanoke, with one well-known Floyd Countian (Lester Weddle left), the band played some Irish tunes mixed in with their old-time/bluegrass fare, which included a murder ballad and a song called Don’t Let Your Deal Go Down, which I happily thought was a Grateful Dead song but later discovered it wasn’t (but likely inspired Garcia/Hunter).
With St. Paddy’s Day parades and large events cancelled, it was nice to celebrate in such a small-town familiar setting. There was lots of fun band banter, or should I say blarney, and even some flat footing afoot.
“I did my Irish duty,” I said to Joe on the ride home. “You’re your father’s daughter,” he replied.__________Our World Tuesday

I like the “be a song” t-shirt. Haha … a cuter couple there could not possibly be! May the luck of the Irish always be with you and Joe, Colleen!

You guys are so cute. We don’t have Saint Patrick’s Day here in the Philippines but I would like to greet you a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! I do remember one of my favorite churches in San Francisco that I frequented was in his memory 🙂
