That last line reminds me of the new moon. It took me YEARS to get it into my head that the new moon is dark in the sky.

Somehow I see an angel stirring a potion, chanting
double double, there’s toil and trouble, slight of light and ray of fate, embrace the pale glow of moon’s dark weight.
