13: Boom
1. Birdfeeder Drama: There’s a little wren making a nest in our bird feeder. She carries twigs and stuffs them in the holes meant for feeding. She chases the other birds away, even the big cowbirds.
2. Trump’s tweets are an insult to the birds.
3. Or as my Facebook friend Mark recently said: All Tweet and no meat!
4. This is the little wren is trying to nest in our bird feeder being vocal about shooing away all the other birds that come to feed.
5. We’re still rocking the pandemic weekends from wildflowers and botanical gardens to water. See “Me Jane, You Tarzan” HERE.
6. I think “Look” was the first word I fell in love with while reading Dick and Jane in first grade. I just liked the way it “looked.”
7. I recently ran into a friend while grocery shopping and said to her, “I’m socially awkward enough without adding this (pointing to my mask) to the mix.
8. We’re tourists to our own aging / We’ve never been here before / We take field-notes and pictures / and watch the other travelers / We cross our fingers / and look for simple pleasures / We count our blessings / give away our belongings / enjoy the view from the scenic route / and have a cup of tea – Read The Tourist in its entirety HERE.
9. Watch our little wren knock a cowbird off the feeder.
10. Cicada nymphs crawled out of the ground this week after 17 years. There were so many of them that they looked like a clone army climbing up trees. Once settled, their backs split open and they slipped out of their old bodies, reminding me of the old movie, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. More on the cicada invasion HERE.
11. And now their constant drone sounds a collective protest, a metaphor for these times.
12. Having my husband working at home running a group program online and hearing him even with his office door closed is kind of like having the TV on all day in the background.
13. And here’s a shot of nature’s grocery store. What’s for lunch?

My Beloved Sandra’s got a robin nesting just outside her office window, defending hatchlings ferociously, but I’VE GOT WIND CHIMES!!!
AND: we’re (finally!) back up into the mid-70’s today!
Happy Thursday, CR.

Hi,
The Wren is fearless protecting her home and family. Love the garden. Have a great day!

ahhhh I always appreciate a trip to your house! I’m envious of your vege garden… I’m afraid of all the non mask wearing flat earthers in my area so I haven’t been to the plant store.
Great capture on the wren throwing down on the big bird!

as to that idiotic display to orchestra music and being the savior… my first thought was antichrist.
(I might not be kidding)

Thank you, friend. You made my day.

That little wren really really wants to live near the birdseed cafe. …. I printed the “tourist ..” poem, thank you for that gift. …. enjoyed all the nature and Covid weekend adventures…. and I hated Dick & Jane, because their little sister Sally (formerly known as Baby) made first/second grades miserable for me. (My personal twist on surviving Catholic School).

I love the rhythm of The Tourist. It’s how I feel.
“Look” speaks to me, too. A friend’s little grandson reintroduced the concept to me last year. Discovery is so amazing.
