I’m About to Get in Some Hot Water
That’s what I heard Joe say to a Hot Springs NC street vending palm reader as we whizzed by on our bicycles on the way for a tub. Our therapeutic hot mineral soak overlooking the river was divine.
Hot Springs Resort & Spa was popular in the 1800s. At one time it was part of a German internment camp during WW1. It fell into disrepair and was renovated in the last decade or so.
Here are some of the remnants of the old Hot Springs Resort.
And this is an Asian bush called Harlequin Glory that dotted the Hot Springs Spa grounds.
Thursday’s lunch was mostly beer and Friday’s lunch was carrot cake. We woke up Friday to a train whistle.
Trying to get wireless or a data connection was like gorilla blogging in the old days, sitting on sidewalks with laptops in front of libraries etc.
The creek was Spring and the river was the French Broad River, which, like The New River and the Nile, is one of the oldest rivers in the world.
We didn’t stay at this Inn but we did swing on a hammock here and walk through a Boxwood maze with a water fountain at the center.
I fell in love with the tall purple aster.

Now it’s off to Josh and Emily’s place, right up the Madison County road into Marshall!_________Our World Tuesday
