Please Don’t Freeze
My son’s wife Emily is a flower farmer, florist and store owner. She, the founder of Carolina Flowers, had three weddings on Saturday to pick, arrange and deliver flowers for. October is their busiest month for weddings, but as busy as she was, we managed to squeeze in some weekend visit time, enjoying the flower farm, eating at the Star Diner and playing Scrabble Sunday morning after a homemade gourmet brunch made by Josh.
We cruised into downtown Marshall from nearby Hot Springs, NC. After we visited Josh at the Old Marshall Jail, where he is re-purposing the jail into a hotel, bar and restaurant themed on the history of the jail (more to come on that), we skipped up the road to Emily’s new store, Carolina Flowers Mercantile, which carries fresh cut flowers from the farm, gifts, art, home goods, decor, fun stuff for kids, outdoor gear, and more.
It was Friday afternoon and there was a freeze in the forecast. So, we all headed over to the farm to rescue the last of the blooms for the Farmers Market for a pick and clip party.
It was a Monet’s Garden flower-like experience for me.
On Sunday, Emily posted, “Pinch me! Another week of dahlias! They won’t last forever, but we have a little more time.” / Our World Tuesday
