We Went to the Drive-in and Christmas Lights Were Showing
It was a Christmas lights extravaganza timed to music of the season, the Daklights in Dublin, about a 45 min – to an hour’s drive from us.
I quickly figured out that I got the best pictures by shaking the camera as I clicked.
Their write-up description says, “Since its inception in 2010, the show has grown from about 3,000 incandescent (traditional) Christmas lights in white, red, and green to over 20,000 LED Christmas lights capable of producing millions of color combinations.” We watched for about half an hour and never saw the same sequence twice.
You can drive through or park. It’s pandemic friendly and free.
Joe and I were curious to know what DAK stood for. Digital Audio Kinetics? The next day, I private messaged the daklights Facebook page and learned that it stands for the family’s initial who put on the show. It started at their home but the ride by traffic made it hard to manage, so they moved the show to Randolph Park.
There actually was a movie screen with the Grinch and other cartoon bits playing through some of the songs.
We would have stayed longer but made a dinner reservation at the Parkway Grille to top off our Christmas lights date, and they were closing at 8.
Way to get in the Christmas spirit!

How neat that this started with one family and was expanded by the town.. I love that! You got some nice pictures…maybe your how-to hint will help me when we go out to ooh and aah.
